Cold and Flu Season

Cold and flu season is upon us and my house was hit with the flu. My 3 year old woke up at 3 am Saturday morning, coughing. He’s a pretty good patient and typically covers his mouth when he coughs, but not in his groggy state in the middle of the night. He coughed directly in my face. I immediately started dosing myself with Sambucol’s black elderberry syrup, helichrysum hydrosol, green smoothies, and lots of garlic. You can purchase Helichrysum hydrosol from Mountain Rose Herbs.

The above mentioned “remedies” are antiviral and boost immunity. I went ahead and purchased Tamiflu for him to help him get better faster. It’s $163 at HEB. If the other kids get sick, or myself, I’ll be getting the homeopathic remedy Oscillococcinum. It’s around $30 and is supposed to be very helpful.

I’ve been getting my raw garlic with the hummus I made from scratch. This hummus is low calorie and delicious - even without oil!

Hummus 1 can chickpeas 1/4 c tahini 1/4 c lemon juice 1-4 garlic cloves (your preference) 2-3 tbsp water Salt to taste

Mix in a high speed blender. Enjoy.

I like to add smoked paprika, too. It’s a game changer! You can also add cumin if you like.

Stay healthy!
